Quick booking facts
Rich Newman is a Bristol-based comedy magician available for cabaret and parlour shows, close-up magic, weddings, corporate events, family audiences and community events. He can travel for bookings, holds public liability insurance through Equity, and can supply his own PA system at a cost when needed.
Booking & Pricing
How much does it cost?
Every event is different, so pricing depends on factors such as location, audience size and the style of performance. The easiest way to get an accurate quote is to get in touch and tell me a little about your event.
Do you offer packages?
No. Every booking is tailored to the event. Some clients book close-up magic, some book a stage show and others combine both.
What happens after I enquire?
I'll reply within 24–48 hours to discuss your event, answer any questions and provide a quote. If you'd like to go ahead, a contract and deposit invoice will be sent to secure the booking.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A 25% deposit secures the booking, with the remaining balance due one week before the event.
Travel & Locations
How far do you travel?
I'm based in Bristol but regularly travel throughout the UK for performances.
Do you perform internationally?
Yes. I have performed internationally and am always happy to discuss overseas events.
Performances
How long are performances?
Close-up magic is normally booked by the hour. Stage and cabaret performances typically range from 35–90 minutes depending on the event.
Can performances be combined?
Absolutely. Many clients choose a combination of close-up magic and a cabaret show.
Do you need a stage?
Not necessarily. Close-up magic requires no stage at all, while cabaret shows can be adapted to a variety of venues and spaces.
Do you provide your own PA system?
I can supply my own PA system at an additional cost if required. For larger venues or events with existing sound provision, I'm happy to work with the equipment already available.
Audience Participation
Will I be picked on?
Definitely not. Audience participation is always friendly, good natured and designed to make people look good.
What if I don't want to take part?
That's absolutely fine. Participation is always optional and it's perfectly acceptable to say no.

Are you insured?
Yes. I hold Public Liability Insurance through Equity and can provide documentation if required.
Are you a member of The Magic Circle?
Yes. I am a Member of The Magic Circle (M.M.C.).
Do you provide contracts?
Yes. Every booking is confirmed with a contract so that everyone knows exactly what has been agreed.
Family & Community
What ages are your family shows suitable for?
Family shows are generally best suited to ages 8+, although younger children often enjoy them too when attending with family.
Do you offer charity rates?
Yes. Charity and community events are normally priced to cover costs rather than generate profit.
